Corvair College # 21 has come and gone. It apparently was a resounding success. Many people went away saying "1'll be back next year".
Seventy two registered for the event, though several had to cancel at the last minute for various reasons. Six Corvair powered aircraft showed up. Numerous engines were being worked on from Thursday afternoon through late Sunday afternoon. Ten engines were test run for the first time.
You can see numerous pictures of the activities on this site as well as on Willliam's web site, www.flycorvair.com
Food was available starting early Friday morning with Bill Frye serving breakfast and lunch each day.
On Friday night, Mike Morrow served a delicious supper with main courses of roast beef and teriyaki chicken, plus all the trimmings.
On Saturday night, John Godwin and Mike Oberlies served an absolutely scrumptious southern style Bar-b-cue supper. There were about 80 participants and guests for the banquet. William made some comments and thanked the entire volunteer crew for all their work in getting things organized and running smoothly for the event.
There was an endless supply of soft drinks, bottled water, snacks and coffee. No one had to leave the airport for food for the entire weekend.
A number of participants chose to sleep in tents or campers. Many others chose to sleep on the floor in the terminal building and a few chose to stay in local motels.
For next year, we plan to add more lighting and work tables. We will purchase additional tables and chairs. If you have any suggestions on how to make the event even better, let us know at barnwellairport@bellsouth.net .
